Odisha FC suffered a heartbreaking 2-3 defeat against Hops FC in the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2024-25 on Sunday. The Kalinga Warriors couldn't capitalize despite creating several chances and were punished in the dying minutes.
The game began with an early push from Odisha FC. In the 3rd minute, Jennifer played a through ball to Neha, but her touch was too heavy. The Kalinga Warriors quickly found their rhythm and responded in the 15th minute when they equalized after Hops FC took the lead in the 13th minute.
The hosts continued to pile on the pressure and in the 23rd minute, Lyndra was played through on goal with a brilliant pass, but her rebound shot after the keeper's save went just wide. Hops FC hit back to reclaim the lead in the 34th minute, but Odisha FC refused to let the momentum slip. Just before the halftime whistle, Pyari Xaxa showed great composure with a clinical finish in the 45th minute to bring the game level at 2-2.

Odisha’s defense also stood strong at times, with Malati making a crucial goal-line clearance to keep the Warriors in the game. Despite these valiant efforts, Hops FC took advantage of a late chance in the 90th minute and scored the winning goal, leaving Odisha FC frustrated after creating so many chances.
With this disappointing 2-3 loss, Odisha FC will now focus on their upcoming match against table-toppers East Bengal FC on April 11th in Kolkata.
