Padma Shri Pramod Bhagat to grace the new year opener against Mumbai City FC at the Kalinga Stadium as a part of the club’s ambassador program.

Odisha FC will face Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23 on Monday, 2nd January. The match will be played in front of a full-capacity crowd of over 5000 spectators at Kalinga Stadium. We as a club are glad to announce that the Indian Paralympic badminton champion “Shri Pramod Bhagat” will attend the match.
 
Shri Pramod Bhagat has been a five-time world champion, winning over hundred competitive medals and numerous international medals. He won a gold medal at the 2022 Summer Paralympics in Men’s single SL3. Yet India's historic badminton GOLD at the Tokyo Paralympics equals it all.
 
He has also received India’s top two sporting honors - the Arjuna Award in 2019, and the Khel Ratna Award in 2021. He has also received India’s fourth-highest civilian award “Padma Shri” in 2022
 
The 34-year-old Pride of Odisha “Shri Pramod Bhagat”, freed his name Internationally. When he was five years old he acquired polio leading to a disability affecting his left leg with an able-bodied athlete before moving to Para-badminton. He was deeply engulfed in the game with footwork, fitness, and fixture of the game. He played his first tournament against the normal category players when he was 15.
