It’s a new season and it’s time for a new beginning for the team from the land of art, culture, and temples. Odisha FC is all set to start its Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL 2021-22) campaign on Wednesday against Bengaluru FC at Tilak Maidan, Vasco. The boys under the guidance of Head Coach Kiko Ramirez have trained hard in Goa for some time now and have a pretty good understanding among themselves and about the conditions. On the other hand, Marco Pezzaiuoli’s BFC started its season with a 4-2 win over NorthEast United FC on Saturday and will look to continue their form on Wednesday.

The Kalinga Warriors have made some important signings ahead of the eighth edition of the Hero ISL. Apart from getting in a new coaching unit with Coach Kiko at the helm, the Bhubaneswar-based side brought in experienced Spaniards like Hector Rodas, Aridai Cabrera, Victor Mongil, and Javi Hernandez. The two other foreign signings for the team are star Brazilian striker Jonathas De Jesus and Malaysian international Liridon Krasniqi. Among the Indians, the Juggernauts signed National Team players Isaac Vanmalsawma, Lalruatthara, former junior team skipper Sahil Panwar and I-League winner with Gokulam Kerala – Sebastian Thangmuansang.

Apart from the new signings, Odisha FC also promoted three of its youth team graduates to the main team. CVL Remtluanga (Chhangte Jr), Akshunna Tyagi and Deven Sawhney were the ones who made a cut into the Hero ISL squad as they were able to impress the Head Coach during the pre-season camp at Navelim.

The team has gelled well together and with the first game just a few days away, the players to be very confident. Meanwhile, a month back, OFC had announced its leadership group for the season with Victor Mongil, Hector Rodas, and Vinit Rai as the three captains. Players like Arshdeep Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Jerry Mawihmingthanga, Nandhakumar Sekar, Gaurav Bora, Daniel Lalhlimpuia among others, who have played for the club in the previous editions of the Hero ISL, will also play a major role in this year’s campaign.

With all the recent developments on and off the field ahead of the season opener, there is positive energy in the OFC camp. The fans, which will be missing out on all the action on the field, are definitely hopeful of a good show by their favourite team and of course the beginning of #ANewDawn.
