The game started on a great note for Odisha FC when Mourtada Fall lost the ball at an important position and Aridai was quick to pounce on that. He went past a couple of defenders and slotted the ball in to give an initial lead to Odisha FC as early as in the fourth minute of the match.

However, MCFC scored the equalizer in the 11th minute when Jahouh’s long-range shot went past Kamaljit Singh. Kamaljit, though, made a few good saves in the first half before MCFC was awarded a free-kick from a dangerous position. Jahouh took the set-piece and Angulo made no mistakes in ensuring a lead for the table-toppers in the 38th minute.

After ending the first half with the one-goal deficit, Odisha FC showed signs of making a comeback six minutes into the second. Nandhakumar Sekar got the ball from Jerry but his shot was deflected out for a corner by Amey Ranawde.

Coach Kino Garcia made a few changes in the second half but MCFC had its chances to score. Meanwhile, in the 70th minute, Jerry and Nandha combined well to score the equalizer. A pinpoint cross from Nandha was headed home by the Mizo winger. Seven minutes later, Jonathas sent the ball to Jerry and he nailed it into the back of the net for the second time in the evening.

After missing out a chance to score in the 84th minute, Jonathas tapped a perfect cross from Jerry into the goal and sealed the game in favour of the Juggernauts in the 89th minute of the game.

Odisha FC will now take on ATK Mohun Bagan in their next game on 8th January, Saturday.
