After a good start to the eighth season of the Hero Indian Super League, Odisha FC will now take on the neighboring side SC East Bengal in the next game with an aim of continuing its winning run in the tournament. The teams from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata will lock horns at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco Da Gama in Goa on Tuesday.

The Kalinga Warriors got the better of Bengaluru FC by 3-1 goals in their first game while the Red and Gold Brigade played against the other two teams from the eastern part of the country – Jamshedpur FC and ATK Mohun Bagan in their first two fixtures. SC East Bengal held Jamshedpur for a 1-1 draw and then was defeated by ATKMB 0-3 in the Kolkata derby on Saturday.

The Juggernauts had a great outing when they stepped on the pitch last time. Javi Hernandez scored a brace while another Spaniard Aridai Cabrera got his first-ever Hero ISL goal against Sunil Chhetri’s team. Players like Hector Rodas and Vinit Rai showed their class and it was a perfect day at the office for custodian Kamaljit Singh. The goalkeeper had even managed to save a penalty kick from Chhetri which definitely lifted the spirit of the entire team.

After the win against BFC, Head Coach Kiko Ramirez stated in the post-match Press Conference, “Winning is always good but it’s just the start we’ve got to keep working hard and keep going this way and the objective is to make Odisha a big club in the Indian Super League and the only way to do that is by doing like that and working hard in training.”

“We like all the players, we are happy with the performance in training. Today, Vinit or Jerry did a wonderful job through which Javi scored two goals but the coach was in Poland so he knew the player and he adapted very well and we are happy. We know Javi is a goalscorer, he proved that during pre-season and he proved that today. Also when we made the changes, Jonathas also did a good job, and then when Aridai and Liridon came onto the pitch the team improved, we are happy with the performance of all players, also of Hector and Victor, and also of all Indian players and foreigners, of everybody in the team. It’s a team victory, not a one-man victory,” the OFC gaffer had further added.

The Bhubaneswar-based side has continued the hard work and the players and all the support staff are committed towards the one common goal. OFC had defeated SCEB in their last game of the seventh season in a high-scoring thriller and the Juggernauts will definitely aim to keep their record intact when they step on the field on Tuesday against their zonal opponents.
