Unbowed Odisha clinch Hero Super Cup title

In a historic encounter on a rainy night in Kerala, Odisha FC defeated Bengaluru FC to clinch the Hero Super Cup title.


The match started with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess, but it was Odisha FC who drew first blood in the 23rd minute. Diego Mauricio found the back of the net from a dead ball, giving his team the early lead after Gurpreet spilled the ball.
 


Diego doubled the lead in the 38th minute as he beat his marker to put Jerry's lowball header past the keeper.
 


The first half ended with OFC leading 2-0.
 


The second half started with Bengaluru FC looking for a way back into the game, but Odisha FC's defense held strong. Bengaluru FC tried to mount a comeback when Sivasakti was brought down late in the second half and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Sunil stepped up and halved the deficit but it was too late as Odisha FC's defense held on to cement the win.
 


Diego Mauricio was the hero of the night, scoring two crucial goals to help his team win the title.
 


Head Coach Clifford Miranda became the first Indian coach to win the Hero Super Cup and remain unbeaten throughout the tournament.
 


The Hero Super Cup title was a fitting end to what has been a successful season for Odisha FC. They have shown great determination and teamwork throughout the tournament and deserved to be crowned champions.
